ASARECA Agriculture Ministerial Conference (AAMC)
About The Event
Under a theme entitled: Building Resilient Food Systems to Feed Africa for Generations, delegates will deliberate on mechanisms for enhancing the momentum in Building Resilient Food Systems. This meeting is expected to generate consensus, actions and commitments to facilitate new initiatives aimed at Building Resilient Food Systems to Feed Africa for Generations.
Measuring Development 2023: Mitigating the Risks and Impacts of Climate Change
About The Event
The Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA), the University of Chicago’s Development Innovation Lab (DIL), the World Bank’s Development Impact Evaluation Department (DIME) and Data Analytics and Tools Unit (DECAT) will host the ninth annual Measuring Development Conference (MeasureDev).
MeasureDev will feature a series of presentations, panel discussions, and lightning talks on novel applications of mobile data, satellite imagery, remote sensing technologies, and the computational approaches to make sense of these data to provide more granular, frequent, and accurate insights regarding our changing climate and actions to respond. Participants will learn about the frontiers of measurement using these approaches and gain perspectives from leading academic and industry pioneers.
Digital Earth Africa will also showcase some of its work in integrating Geospatial Analysis Tools for Local Development.
Zimbabwe Independence Day
About The Event
Zimbabwe Independence Day is celebrated annually on 18 April. This holiday marks independence from the United Kingdom on this day in 1980 and is the National Day of Zimbabwe.
NewSpace Africa Conference 2023
About The Event
This four day event is a high-level gathering of industry leaders, commercial space companies, investors and other key stakeholders in the African space and satellite industry, taking place from 25-28 April 2023 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
DE Africa is honoured to be participating as Gold Sponsors this year and look forward to meeting and engaging with industry leaders.
At GEO Week 2022, Digital Earth (
Digital Earth Africa (DE Africa) was delighted to participate in the National Adaptation Plans (NAP) Expo 2022 in Gaborone, Botswana, in partnership with the Group on Earth Observation (GEO), an outreach event organised by the Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC),and in collaboration with relevant bodies and organisations supporting National Adaptation Plans (NAPs).
ESA EO Φ-week 2020
About The Event
As part of ESA EO Φ-week 2020, we're hosting a side event 'Making satellite data easier to use to support Africa’s development priorities' to showcase the use of Copernicus satellite imagery for producing Analysis Ready Data. We will demonstrate how this overcomes barriers to using the data across the continent.
Through the session, Digital Earth Africa (DE Africa) seeks to identify paths to collaboration and innovation with SMEs and innovators for the benefit of Africa’s development priorities. The challenges and opportunities of using Earth observation data at the continental-scale for both Africa and Europe will be explored.
Four keynote speakers from Europe and Africa will present on topics ranging from integration of data cube technologies, capacity development in Africa and the path to collaboration through partnerships, and engaging with users to realise the potential of satellite data products.
You will also see a demonstration of the use of open data within our open DE Africa platform.
To attend all you need to do is join the webinar. You can also access all the ESA EO Φ-week 2020 sessions via the Brella platform using the code: phiweek2020.
AGU2020: Gender and Social Inclusion in Climate Data Services and Analyses
About The Event
Women and minorities are not well represented in the scientific fields in which they work, nor are they considered when designing and delivering services for resilience to climate change. Most studies do not include gender-disaggregated data or consider how climate information impacts different groups of people. This gap is despite overwhelming evidence that women and minority populations, including indigenous peoples, are able to react, respond, and recover to climate-related shocks in very different ways.
The goal of this session is to showcase work that includes gender or underrepresented groups in their climate service research, design or delivery. In particular, we will consider talks that use remote sensing and or geographic information systems (GIS) to address gendered or minority development issues. These papers will represent the forefront of climate services development and showcase replicable methods for gender and social inclusion in research and applications.
This year the AGU Fall Meeting 2020 will be mostly virtual. Featured meeting content will be held (and recorded) during the original 7-11 December dates, with additional content scheduled to best meet the needs of our international attendees around the world.
If you have an interest in Earth observation data and making it more accessible for anyone to use, or you’re just curious to learn more, join us next Tuesday 8 September for Cloud Native Geospatial Outreach Day.
This virtual event is part of the STAC (Spatial Temporal Asset Catalogue) Sprint and presents an opportunity for anyone to join the STAC community to collaborate and contribute to the ecosystem, and discuss the value of accessible geospatial information more broadly.
